Invite your visitors with messages per page
Show a message suited to each page of your website, after a few seconds, after scrolling or when the visitor is about to leave. Settings, rules and statistics.
Messages per page show a small bubble next to the chatbot's closed button, with a message suited to the page the visitor is viewing, at the moment you choose. Clicking the bubble opens the chat.
For example, on your pricing page: "A question about our prices? I'll answer right away". It's a targeted version of the teaser bubble, which shows the same message everywhere.
Messages per page are included from the Growth plan (Growth, Pro, Scale and the free trial). On the Starter plan, only the teaser bubble is available: the section shows a lock and a Change plan link. See Plans and limits.
Where to set them up
When creating the chatbot: in step 5 of the wizard, Engagement, below the teaser bubble.
Afterwards, at any time:
- Open My Chatbots and click Edit on your chatbot.
- Open the Engagement tab.
- In the Messages per page section, click Add.
- Fill in the message (see below), then click Save Changes.
You can create up to 5 messages. To delete one, click its trash icon.
Message settings
- Page (the address contains): part of the page address, for example
/pricing. The message is shown on every page whose address contains this text. Leave empty for every page. - When to show it: the trigger (see below).
- Message: the bubble text, 120 characters max.
Triggers
- After X seconds (0 to 300 seconds): the message appears after the chosen time on the page. Ideal for a page people read quickly, such as pricing.
- After X% of scrolling (10 to 100%): the message appears once the visitor has scrolled through that share of the page. Ideal for a long article: the visitor is already interested.
- When the visitor is about to leave: the message appears when the mouse leaves the page towards the top (towards the tabs or the address bar). This trigger works on desktop only.
Examples
- Page
/pricing, after 20 seconds: "A question about our prices? I'll answer right away". - Page
/contact, when the visitor is about to leave: "Before you go, leave me your number and we'll call you back". - A long blog article, after 60% of scrolling: a question related to the article's topic.
Display rules
- The first message matching the page is used. So place the most specific messages (
/pricing) before a message for every page (empty address). - On that page, it replaces the teaser bubble. On other pages, the teaser bubble shows as usual if it is turned on.
- Only one message per visit. Once a message has been shown, no other one appears during the visit.
- Never when the chat is already open or when the visitor has already chatted with the chatbot.
To see a message again while testing, open a new private browsing tab: a message is shown only once per visit.
Statistics
In your chatbot's Engagement tab, each message shows its results for the last 30 days:
- the number of times it was shown;
- the number of clicks on the bubble;
- the number of conversations started.
Compare these figures to keep the messages that work and rewrite the others.
Our tips
- Short messages: the bubble is small, one sentence is enough.
- One clear question related to the page: "A question about our prices?" rather than a general introduction.
- Don't use the "about to leave" trigger everywhere. Keep it for pages where you might lose a contact (contact, quote, pricing), otherwise it quickly feels intrusive.
- Test, then adjust using the statistics.
What's next?
- Customize the appearance of the button and the teaser bubble.
- Capture leads in the conversations these messages start.
- Track your statistics.
