"Continue on WhatsApp" button

Let your visitors continue the conversation with your team on WhatsApp, with their question already written. Settings, opening hours and statistics.

Many visitors would rather write on WhatsApp than fill in a form. With the "Continue on WhatsApp" button, your chatbot lets them open a WhatsApp chat with your business number in one click.

WhatsApp opens with a ready-made message: a greeting followed by the last question asked in the chat. You know right away what it is about.

The WhatsApp button is included in every plan (Starter, Growth, Pro, Scale and the free trial). See Plans and limits.

Where to set it up

When creating the chatbot: at step 5, Engagement, of the wizard.

Later, at any time:

  1. Open My chatbots and click Edit on your chatbot.
  2. Open the Engagement tab.
  3. In the "Continue on WhatsApp" button section, tick Enable the WhatsApp button.
  4. Fill in the settings (see below), then click Save changes.

The settings

  • WhatsApp number: your number in international format, with the country code, for example +44 7700 900123 or +972 50 123 4567. The Test button opens WhatsApp on this number so you can check it.
  • Pre-filled message (optional): the sentence that starts the visitor's message. Leave it empty to use the default sentence, in the visitor's language: "Hi, I'm reaching out via your website…".
  • Where to show WhatsApp:

- Icon in the chat header: a green WhatsApp icon, always visible at the top of the window. Visitors use it if they wish: the chatbot never pushes it during the conversation, so that it collects their contact details first; - Mention WhatsApp after a lead is captured (off by default): once the contact details are saved, the chatbot mentions that they can also message you on WhatsApp. No lead is lost.

  • Only during my opening hours: choose the days, hours and time zone. Outside them, the button is hidden and the chatbot keeps answering and collecting contact details.

Use a number where someone actually answers during the chosen hours: a visitor who writes on WhatsApp expects a quick reply.

Statistics

In the Engagement tab, under the settings, you see the number of clicks on WhatsApp over the last 30 days. The chats themselves take place in your WhatsApp: they do not appear in your ScanChat conversations.

Your data

The button is a simple wa.me link: nothing is sent to WhatsApp until the visitor clicks. The visitor chooses to open WhatsApp and to send the message.

What next?

  1. Get a WhatsApp alert for every new lead.
  2. Invite your visitors with messages per page.
  3. Offer appointment booking with Calendly.
