Install the chatbot on your website

WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace or custom website: the step-by-step guide for each platform.

Your chatbot installs with a single line of code, without changing anything else on your website. On WordPress, a plugin even does it for you in one click.

Where to find your install code

  1. Open My chatbots and click your chatbot.
  2. Open the Embed code tab.
  3. Click Copy code.

The code looks like this (with your chatbot's ID):

<script src="https://scan-chat.com/api/widget" data-chatbot-id="YOUR-ID"></script>

The code never changes: your changes (answers, colors, leads…) apply to your website automatically, with no need to reinstall it.

No code to copy: the ScanChat AI plugin installs your chatbot in one click.

  1. In WordPress: Plugins → Add New, search for "ScanChat AI", then click Install Now and Activate. The plugin is published in the official WordPress plugin directory.
  2. Open the ScanChat AI menu in WordPress and click Connect my account.
  3. Choose your chatbot: you are sent back to WordPress and the chatbot appears on your website.

Alternatively, in your chatbot's Embed code tab, click Download the plugin, then in WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file and click Activate. It is the same plugin; then follow steps 2 and 3.

From the ScanChat AI page in WordPress, you can also hide the chatbot on some pages (checkout, legal notice…) or hide it while you are logged in, to keep your statistics clean.

Wix

  1. In your Wix site dashboard: Settings → Custom Code (in the Advanced section).
  2. Click + Add Custom Code and paste your code.
  3. Choose All pages, load code once, and place it in Body - end.
  4. Click Apply.

Wix only allows custom code on sites with a Premium plan and a connected domain.

Shopify

  1. In your Shopify admin: Online Store → Themes.
  2. On your current theme, click … then Edit code.
  3. Open the layout/theme.liquid file.
  4. Paste your code right before the </body> line, then Save.

Webflow

  1. Open Site settings, then the Custom code tab.
  2. Paste your code in Footer code.
  3. Save, then publish your site.

Custom code requires a paid site plan on Webflow.

Squarespace

  1. Settings → Advanced → Code Injection.
  2. Paste your code in the Footer box, then save.

Other websites (HTML, custom)

Paste the code into your website's HTML, right before the </body> tag, on every page where the chatbot should appear (usually in the shared layout or footer).

For a Next.js website, choose the "Next.js" format in the Embed code tab: it uses Next.js's Script component.

Check the installation

Open your website in a private browsing window: the chatbot bubble should appear at the bottom of the page. If it doesn't:

  • check that the website was published after adding the code;
  • clear your website's cache if you use a caching plugin (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed…);
  • check that your subscription or trial is active in Billing.
