Secure your account: password, email, Google sign-in and deletion

Your ScanChat AI account gives access to your chatbots, your conversations and your leads' contact details. Securing it takes two minutes. Here's how to change your password, recover it if you forget it, use Google sign-in and log out properly.

Change your password

1. Open Settings from the menu.
2. Click the Security tab.
3. Type your New Password, then type it again in Confirm New Password.
4. Click Save Changes.

The "Password updated successfully!" message confirms the change, and you stay logged in. The password must be at least 6 characters long.

Forgot your password

1. On the login page, click Forgot password?.
2. Enter your Email Address, then click Send Reset Link.
3. Open the email you receive and click the link.
4. On the Create New Password page, enter and confirm your new password, then click Reset Password.

You are then taken back to the login page.

Sign in with Google

On the login and sign-up pages, under Or continue with, you can use your Google (or GitHub) account instead of a password. Your access is then as secure as that account: protect it with Google's 2-Step Verification.

If you signed up with Google:

• your name is managed by Google and can't be changed from the Profile tab;
• in the Security tab, you can set a password so you can also log in with your email address. Type it twice, then click Save Changes.

Log out

Your session stays open in your browser, even after you close it. To log out:

1. Click Logout at the bottom of the menu.
2. Confirm in the Confirm Logout window.

Logging out closes your session in this browser only.

If you think your account is compromised

1. Change your password right away (Security tab), or reset it with Forgot password? if you can no longer log in.
2. If you sign in with Google, secure your Google account first.
3. If your chatbots use your own API key, replace it with a new key from your AI provider.
4. Email us at info@scan-chat.ai so we can check your account with you.

Change your email address

1. Open Settings, Profile tab.
2. Next to your address, click Change address.
3. Type the new address, then click Send confirmation links.
4. One link is sent to your current address and another to the new one: click both.

The change only takes effect once both links are clicked. You then log in with the new address.

Delete your account

1. Open Settings, Security tab.
2. At the bottom of the page, in Delete my account, type your account email address. The short survey about why you are leaving is optional.
3. Click Permanently delete my account.

Your subscription is stopped (no further charge), then your chatbots, their knowledge, their conversations and your leads are deleted. You receive a confirmation email. Invoices already issued remain available on request at info@scan-chat.ai.
